Remote Keyless Fob off Ebay/Amazon?

Hello,
First time here. Bought a used 2015 Sonic but it didn't come with the keyless remote entry fob, just the ignition key. Bumper to bumper warranty expired so would rather not shell $$$ to the dealership to make one. Has anyone had success with buying one off Ebay or Amazon and programming it yourself?

I've seen some for $30 with the switchblade key. Does anyone know if I need to have the key laser-cut in order to program the fob? I read in the manual I would need to insert the unprogrammed key into the ignition and turn it on in order to sync it. But I just need the keyless fob remote. Anyway around not having to cut the spare key to program the remote??

Interesting. My 2014 LT only came with the switchblade style keys. Is yours an LS? I believe some of the LS models did not come with remote entry.

As far as getting the key in the ignition, yes it will need to be laser cut.

I have an LT too. I think most LT has the remote entry capability. I wanted to see if it was possible to program the RKE fob myself without laser-cutting the switchblade key.

Thanks but Replace My Remote, is also provide you affordable replacement of car remote key fobs so that you do not have to pay inflated dealership prices.

I paid 80 for a new remote fob with a cut key from the dealer the other day. You would need to know your key code to order a laser cut key online and even then it was no cheaper than the dealer.

My 2012 LS has the switch blade style key with key less entry and trunk pop (i have a sedan). They should all have key less entry. The only time I have seen this is when it was a rental car. They still have the key less entry but got an extra key cut without the fob.
