Request to Chevy Customer Service

Vanessa, since you have seen our forum discussions here, you must realize many of us are really interested in all aspects of the Sonic's driving, efficiency, and performance, not just style and color.
I have been looking for information on the internet but could not find certain things. Is it possible for you to request information from the engineering group of Chevrolet/GM?
I am looking for:
1) The Brake Specific Fuel Consumption (BSFC) chart for the Ecotec 1.4L Turbo engine (the engineers will know what this is)
2) Aerodynamic data on the Sonic Hatchback and Sedan like: Drag Coefficient Cd, Frontal Area, Drag Area CdA (again, the engineers will know what these are if you are not familiar with them)
- This is not 'secret data' so it should not be an issue getting it for us...

I am the proud ower of a Sonic Hatchback and am very interested in getting this info.

Others on the Forum may have additional requests.

I PM'd Vanessa my info and she is looking into it.

The first Chevy customer service rep called me on Tuesday saying they recieved my request and were trying to get the information. He called back yesterday saying that Chevrolet does not have this information and this data is created by 3rd party sources and available on the internet. I have done multiple searches for both the bsfc and aero drag info, I looked over dozens of websites, there is no info out there. One website had an 'estimated' Cd of 0.33 for the Sonic, but how accurate is that? and still need frontal area.

The main thing I cannot agree with is GM "does not have the information". GM is a multi-Billion$ worldwide auto manufacturer! When they design a new body style it is tested in the wind tunnel for 100's of hours, which would produce this aerodynamic data. The Ecotec engines were tested extensively on the dynomometer to develop all the systems like EFI, variable valve timing, emissions, electronic controlled thermostat, and getting 40 mpg! The BSFC data would have been produced during that testing.

Hopefully Vanessa can come thru for us and get some real Sonic data for us!
