Not really sure if tossing a car around is a great sales boon. I realize I'm totally out of the demographic that this campaign is trying to appeal to, but I agree with others on this forum - it seems like showing the car being a wonderful road car is better than a stunt that only shows the car thrown about, either bungee jumping or flipping ramps or whatever. I, personally, was more inspired by the engineers/designers videos that shows the cars being used in harsh conditions in a cool road trip. Put some of that footage up on national television and I think there would be some foot traffic into the GM dealerships.
For an auto enthusiast, rally racing is pretty sweet. This falls along those lines, you love to watch others do really cool things with the same car you own....this might be the first car I don't try the stuff its advertised doing lol
Honestly I think it shows to the durability of the little car. Also gets people interested in it, a 20 second flash of a jump gets your interest perked. Up to this point most of GM's commercials have been pretty bland in the past, "New GM" has been better though.
I loved the air drop ad and the magazine articles in MT/C&D.
Its a double thing when you buy a new car, at one side you do protect your investment, but at the other you buy it to have fun that's more than just a-b driving. Will my sonic end up on the off road Abrams Tank trails on base? No but it will make its way to an iced over parking lot at some point.
EDIT: xride episode 2 is pretty good, glad i searched the demo vids out
