I'm pretty sure you have to take the front bumper off to change the grille surround. I'd bet what's left of the hair on my head that you have to remove the bumper, in fact.

I'm not exactly clear on how to modify the top grille. I see the difference in dimensions mentioned earlier on this thread, but how exactly did you guys make it work? Did you re-use the surround from the LT or did you buy a new one for the RS and modify it? Sorry if that's a stupid question... I know electrical, not body stuff...

just out of curiosity. is it possible to remove the chrome grill surround without taking off the bumper and grill? or is it screwed in as well

As per Beastlick (who redid his entire grill) yes. You can check out his post and it shows what it looks like with just the rim on the car. I will be taking a stab at a custom grill this friday! wish me luck

The chrome is only clipped into the black ABS portion of the grill. The upper is screwed to the bumper and clipped, the lower is only clipped. You will more than likely break tabs if you try to remove the chrome without taking the entire grill out. I suggest removing the bumper, all the clips have very easy access from the inside.

There is a stickied DIY on how to remove the bumper. Its relatively easy to do. I'm down to about 15mins total to remove or install the bumper. I will be testing out a retrofit later this week and will do a dummied down picture version for removal.

I think SonicR and MPFab are the only ones. Bowtie openings seem to be the biggest issue.
