SE Michigan ALMOST Sonic Owner

Hey everyone! Even though I'm still a few months away from buying my sonic, I figured I'd introduce myself and tell ya all a little bit about me.

My name is John and I'm 18 years old (19 in October). In May, I got hired by General Motors to work on the assembly line that builds the Chevy Volt and Malibu in Detroit. A few months ago, my mom and I test drove a Sonic and a Cruze at our Chevy dealer when she was deciding on a new car. She chose the cruze because it was more roomy but thats when I knew the Sonic was for me.

I just have to wait until I get my 90 days in at work and become a permanent employee before I can go get a loan from my credit union. The last day in August is when that will happen so within the first 2 weeks of September, I should have one!:banana:

Would you consider holding off for an RS?

I drove the Cruze as well and ended up landing on the sonic being the right choice for me. If you are not getting one till a month or so in the future i would consider waiting to see the RS and see what shakes out. I love my sonic, but that RS might be worth waiting just a bit longer for since you made it this far. That's just my 2 cents. When in October is your birthday? I am on the 7th.

I've considered the RS and it does look great I might add, but I'm looking to do a good amount of mods and I don't really see the point in spending the extra money if I'm going to be replacing a lot of what's stock with aftermarket parts. The extra $$ in my pocket could get me a headstart on everything I want to do and believe me the list is looonnnggg. So, if everything works out, I'll end up with a white HB with a 1.4 turbo, fogs and a sunroof. That would be enough to make me content.

I hear you on saving the cash up front for mods. I plan to eventually do a lot of things to mine as well. Shifter bushings(Installed) and Eibach springs(Ordered ) are the short list. The stereo is in the works, but i need to save a bit more to get the new speakers. Do you know what color and model you are going to purchase yet?

hopefully a white LT hatch with the 1.4 turbo. but black, silver or the dark grey would be alright. White would still be best. I honestly can't wait to get it!

hey, just an update for everyone. I am going to pick up my Sonic tomorrow after I get out of work (around 5:30 et) Pics will probably be up no later than friday! In case anyone wants to know what exactly I ended up getting:

Sonic Hatchback
-1.4 M/T with Turbo
-Connectivity Package
-Summit White with Jet Black Interior

I'll be sure to start a build thread when I take it in to get the windows tinted because that's going to be my first mod.

thanks guys! I'm in Riverview and work in Hamtramck! Bit of a drive but so much more affordable now! I went from 28 mpg (96 Grand Prix) to 40! hahaha

Okay, here it is! Like I said, I'll start a build thread when I get around to tinting the windows but I'm going to be laid off for 4 weeks in mid-september so first I have to save a few dollars to get through that. I'm thinking "frostbite" as a name because I'm doing a white/blue theme but I'm not sure if it's taken already?
