Dropping the clutch at 3 grand in a sonic doesn't bring the same show that dropping the clutch in a Vette at 3 grand does

Mine never stalls, you should get that checked.
I am 30 years old and have almost always had a stick. Last one being a 600 hp Kenne Bell Cobra. The most comparable to the Sonic was a 94 Talon TSi AWD. Now, my Sonic is fairly new with only 1400 miles on it. I think I've stalled this 3-4 times already (nothing as of late though). I, too, have noticed the fine line of the throttle on takeoff. This is more then I've stalled all of my others cars combined. So, needless to say, there is a reprogramming or something that needs to be done. I'm hoping that after my Cai and soon a Trifecta, the launches will be better. I like the car so far (overall) and hopefully will continue to do so. I tried teaching my GF how to drive a stick in this car, which has gone o.k. But with any new stick driver, they hate stalling. I'm glad this thread was up to show that it's not her necessarily, the car isn't helping matters either. She has started doing 2k launches as opposed to my 1,100. I know that these car's can't have the strongest nor most durable clutches on the market... I guess I am just a little frustrated. I question how these 1.4s pull the Cruzes from a stop. Are they having the same issues we are?

It seems to not be a issue on the 1.8 .... i have the 1.4T
get a tune from BNR and it helps a lot... the throttle plates open 1:1 :banana: instead of delayed

Your actually worse off going from high horspower to this, the bigger the engine and more power it has, the more forgiving it will be. Think about how little horsepower this thing has at 1500RPM compared to a V8. Try higher RPM engagements, heck some ferraris will stall right out and not budge if you let then clutch out from anything below 2500!
Takes a differant mindset, where you try not to bark the tires in a muscle car from a stop, this you try to keep the revs up to not die.

I feel you. Even though I have not stalled the car yet, it does take some getting used to. With only 400mi on the car I think I am getting it down. That is the nature of electronic throttle bodies.
I came from a heavily modded LS1 with 470rwhp so I actually find this more tricky, go figure.

Reported my issue with stalling/delay to restart after stall, to Home | National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) website. Now at 3,100 miles I'm convinced that it's the car (and not my 37 years experience in driving manual transmission automobiles.)

This is the most frustrating car to stall I've driven. When u let off the clutch it picks up the rpms a little bit (I imagine adding fuel/timing, & IAC) but as soon as the clutch is fully released it reverts to normal rpms/power... if your just feathering the clutch out I found this rpm bump mislead me to thinking I had full clutch engagement and i'd just release the pedal and next up is a stalled engine.
What's worse is it is impossibel to save this engine after it starts to stall.. normally stabbing the clutch and applying some throttle quickly works.. not so with this ecm, there's some imaginary threshold that if it sees crossed it just cuts fuel!! :/
An exhuast does wonders just because of hearing the engine and being able to tell when the engines about to lugg itself out. Sounds like a tune helps a lot as well

yah......mine cluncks out every once in awhile its so weird. i think it is the hill assist holding the break in sometimes that causes it to stall
