Hoping that there are some web site developers out there on this forum, I'd like a few questions answered regarding SEO (Search Engine Optimization) for a small, non-profit web site for a group based in Calgary. This group used to have a .com web site hosted by Yahoo that they have since lost control to because the original web site builder had disappeared and Yahoo will not sign over the web site to the current board. Subsequently, the board for this non-profit group has created a new .ca web site hosted by TELUS - this new web site has meta tags built into the code for keywords, robots, name and content and the new URL has been submitted to various search engines for crawling.
The problem is that the old .com web site is still showing up in searches and the new .ca one is not for the most part. Also, the old .com web site will disappear in July 2012 as the .com domain name comes up for renewal and it won't be renewed - am wondering how this may affect search engine results.
So what I'm looking for is some ideas/suggestions as to how to get their new web site showing up better in search engine results, people in the know can message me for the associated URL's if they wish to look at the underlying code to see if something needs to be fixed there - I won't post the URL's here as I suspect that would violate some forum rules.
Thanx in advance.
