NICE! I'm actually near boynton myself. You've probably seen my Cobalt running around. Can't miss it, it says badnewsracing.net on the side windows and Got Boost? on the back window. That's cool finally someone around me with a 1.4T. I've only seen one in person before, and it was a customer's that I did in person up in palm beach gardens. :banana:

Yes I would also like to know if anyone is seeing codes with this. Also a big concern is the fact that the brackets that hold the stock pipe in place are removed when the down pipipe is installed. I wondering how much physical stress this puts on the turbo/manifold. That is a huge deal to me because of the potential to developed cracking of the housing. Anyone want to weigh in as to why I'm hopefully wrong?

Something else to consider with this set up and now mounts, you are also dropping all the extra weight of the cat itself. Like Jerry said, the exhaust hangers are that are probably needed to hold up the light weight down pipe and I'm sure if the factory mounting system was needed ZZP would put one on. Also, if you're that worried about it, it can't be that hard to have an exhaust shop fab up something to the factory mounting points.

Its not so much the weight as the movement of the engine when accelerating and shifting and so on. It would seem that in stock form the engine and downpipe are locked in unison. This puts all the stress where it belongs, on the flex joint. Without the brackets it allows the back and forth motion to be put on the manifold/Turbo housing.

Then your only option is to hard mount it yourself or just gut the factory cat. You can also contact ZZP and ask them why they determined that hard mounting it to the block wasn't needed on their down pipe. I am leaning towards keeping the catted down pipe and getting DDM's test pipe to eliminate the second cat and reduced pipe diameter after the cat.

rdss, as that is something to consider, the problem is that to get the most performance out of a turbo, resistance has to get as low as possible as soon as possible.
Downpipe replacement nets much better gains than eliminating the 2nd cat.
The DP should just be secured, it's the best way to get the power without fatiguing the turbo housing.

I agree 100%, for now I think it will be easier to swap out the test pipe for the second cat if I need to bring it in for warranty work as well as there is no sensor checking the function of that cat so I can argue I saved them some warranty work by removing an item that can fail without notice and there are no sensors to tell me if it's bad. Like I said above, it might be a good idea to just have a bracket fab'd up to support the ZZP down pipe or maybe bring it up to ZZP and they may be able to explain why the didn't use a bracket or maybe consider adding it to the production model or even just make it an option for a higher price.
sadly for $279 for 14 inches of pipe i would think they could have put one of the two mounting points.... i am sure it would be fine but would be nice to take load of the turbo/header even just even if road debri kits it or something...
Maybe they can offer a option that would take care of both cats for some discounts.... first cat down pipe $279 + high flow 2nd cat $280= $559 for that upgrade plus the exhaust cat back $624 full exhuast upgrade is $1183 that is a chunk of change.. maybe a stage kit???

$135 for the test pipe isn't that unreasonable, now DDM's $25+ shipping on the part is a little rediculous, it's on,y 17 for the catted mid pipe and weighs a lot more. I think the down pipe is a little more out of price range though, I think 200 would be more on point but they (DDM and ZZP) are the only ones producing these parts so they can pretty much charge what they want.
