Hello. I'm really new to online forums. But, very familiar with automotive mechanical workings. My question. My 2012 Sonic 1.8 L has 90k miles. I purchased a belt kit and cam lock tool to complete this task. I found the 2 bolts securing the cams plastic shroud to appear as if socket marks were visible from rather recent work. I've owned this for only 5k miles. Upon inspection, a rather new Gates power grip belt showing no appearant wear. I'm aware Gates produces GM Delco replacement kits. Anyone think this installed belt is a replacement? The previous owner had all maintenance performed at a GM shop. I have no service code showing. I've done a lot of engine work on various belt timed autos over time. I'm surprised to see one 12 years/ 90k miles in this condition. The Gates belt looks better made than the aftermarket I intended to install. Thank you for inclusion here. This Sonic fits my extra vehicle needs. It may get 2k miles a year at most.
