Sonic Dash - Night Drive Demo

I was searching for current Sonic info and stumbled upon this new video of a dealer demo at night.

It (a 2LS model) clearly shows the Sonic instrument cluster (several times) while driving, an also slightly demonstrates the Sonic's mild acceleration/possible acceleration potential -- you who already own Sonics can be the judges of that.

Apparently the engine does have some growl, although somewhat subdued... but then it's difficult judging that on a video. I only mention that because a few reviews have stated the engine was almost completely tame-sounding when accelerating. I don't like it when a car is so loud it sounds as if you have a CAI mounted inside the cabin of the car. But I do like hearing some growl when I step on it.

I find it interesting the Sonic in this vid has the 1.8 liter engine, still seems to perform as it appear to, and sounds as it does when accelerating.

Also, notice the different audio system than the one that comes in the LTZ. The controls are obviously different than the system shown in most ad/review images I've seen thus far.

I know you hatchback freaks will be disappointed, as I was, that it's ONLY the sedan model. But hey, it's a decent vid nevertheless. (Is this the beginning of a forum hatchback/sedan -- Mine's bigger/better than yours! -- war?)

The 1.8 sounds great in my opinion. Not too loud, but you know its there when you let it have it.

LT, LTZ infotainment center looks MUCH better at night than that one. Its cool how the chrome accents turn blue.

Well, in that case, maybe -- if you have any kind of vid capability -- you can grace us all with a similar night driving vid of your interior... then we can see that nifty LT/LTZ@night eye-candy!

I've liked GM/Chevy's interior lighting - for the most part - for awhile now. Modern, clean, interesting and sharp-looking.

The 1.8L does have some growl to it. I was actually pretty surprised to hear it as much as I do and even more surprised at how good it sounded. Now, I attributed hearing it to a thin firewall so there some give or take there

Bottomline: It's a satisfying rumble.

The acceleration is quite nice for a car its size. I have the 5SPD and have found plenty of horsepower for how I drive. Just keep the rpm's up when accelerating.

Oh and the night-time view is very well thought out. I have not found an issue with the lighting schema yet.

Nice, man! You're right... the silver accents that turn blue @ night look really nice on the LT/LTZ models. Actually, the other model dash looks really good too. But yours is sweet! The blue-ish glow rocks. Actually, it kinda' reminds me of my '09 Avalanche LTZ... at least the center dash audio/HVAC/etc. lighting does.

If GM would lose a little more of the mom'n'pop looking rides I think they would gain a lot more recognition. Nothing against those types of cars... they have their purpose and market. But too many of those in their line coupled with the bland interiors (seat/upholstery) and GMs offerings sometimes come off as too bland and boring. Or maybe dealers just order far too many models with light beige, faded tan, etc. interior/exteriors.

Then again... only my opinion.

Anyway, I'll be watching for more vids/pics.

Hey, thanks for taking the time to do that for us, atvman. Pretty decent vid for a cell phone... I wouldn't have known.

How are you changing modes on the info display? Sounds like you're pressing or switching something.

Button? On the steering wheel? Dash? Just curious.
