Will GM cave to special interest pressure at the expense of the Sonic?

IMO, the Sonic gets such good mileage, the benefit of a Bolt doesn't justify the $35k cost.

It isn't special interest, Mary Barra has said in multiple speeches she wants GM to offer the first fleet of mass produced self driving electric cars affordable to everyone. If she has it her way, GM will look much different in 10 years than it has in the past. Small gas powered cars like the Sonic are not in her long term plan.
