Or is that obviously not an RS/am I mistaken about the RS' drive-train?

It's a spoof for the commercial, everyone knows you don't stand in front of a car while its in drive plus picking up the front of the car when you're trying to get away isn't as funny. It's at best an LT. The only difference between the standard Sonic turbos and the RS is the gearing in the transmission.
