I am totally stoked about the non-warranty destroying GM performance parts for the sonic. I'm not stoked about the fact that most of them still don't show prices or availability (tried the dealer yesterday). For the quality your receiving, I've gotta say that these are some of the cheapest performance parts that I've ever seen for a car. The GMPP exhaust is Borla, the calipers are Wilwood, and they're actually cheaper than the parts from the manufacturer (at least the prices that the dealer did have available).
Speaking of tunes, I'm sure the trifecta tune is better, but GM's goal has to be performance plus driveability and reliability. I'd like to see the boost/EGTs that the higher output trifecta tune produces. I'm sure they're higher, which reduces the life of the entire powertrain. I'm sure the guys at GM don't really feel like getting slandered when Jimmy starts complaining about throwing a rod after overboosting his engine on a "factory performance" tune. I did notice in the GMPP catalog that the intake comes with an authorization code.
What I would like to find is a midpipe and test pipe that will match the 2.25" Borla exhaust. That would be easy enough to swap out before any major maintenance or service, and would still provide a modest increase in efficiency.
