Hello everyone!
I'm the proud owner of a cyber gray 2013 Sonic 1.4L auto. I bought the car new in the summer of 2013, and have been a long time SOF lurker since then. I have a rough idle problem I've been chasing down for a couple months, which I'll create a new thread for and link to here a bit later.

In the meantime I'll share my experience with the car over the past 5 years, since I always appreciate reading others experiences with the sonic. As I said, I bought the car brand new in 2013, put the first mile on it. I just passed 102k miles. No mods at all, just aesthetic changes, although I'm looking to change that now that my warranty is up. First I want to track down the idle issue though.
I bought the car for use as a daily driver, and it has more than served its purpose with minimal issues. (Please wait while I find the biggest piece of wood and knock as hard as possible.) I don't drive it hard, but I enjoy merge ramps. Used Mobile 1 oil/AC Delco filter every 5k miles since I purchased the car.
The only issues I've had in these 5 years/102k miles are as follows:
- Clunking sway bar links
- Two bad window switches
- Failing evap purge valve "ticking"
- Bad ignition coil @ 80k miles
- Leaking water pump @ 90k miles
- Failing check valve in IM @ 100k miles
That's basically it, the car has been a dream for the price. Anyway, see you all around!
