SOTM Voting Thread: February 2012

It hurts me to see the infighting about the voting. This is a subjective process based on our individual "feelings" when we look at the cars as presented in the photos. If your photo(s) suck then don't expect a vote. On the other hand, we don't want the extensive time and $$ put into some of the cars to go punished by sad photography. For example, I greatly appreciate the effort that turtlepants has put into his car, and the effort it takes to make an black car look good (I almost bought a black LTZ and opted for IOM instead because of the challenge of the black paint). But as a semi-professional photographer, I'm also looking at the "package" as a whole as captured in the beauty of the image(s) submitted for the competition.
Ya'all are going to know it if/when I submit my car for a SOTM competition because the pics are going to 'pop' from the screen. But that doesn't mean that I should win .. or, should it??

no offense, but why is wingman winning? all hes got is rims.

the debate here though is the pictures, i thought i did an okay job obviously i didn't haha. i'll be going out of my way next month for better quality pics and maybe ill be a little closer to winning

I can appreciate the efforts of all the entries in this months contest; as I know even the simple mods take lots of time and thought. I also believe the composition of the photography, the setting, the background, the angle, is extremely important. Remember, the winner will be on the home page of this forum for a month for all the world to see. It should represent the most interesting presentation of our Sonics.

I agree with that b/c this is for Car of the month not picture of the month. Make no mistake I love the pics however this is a car of the month contest which implies modifications. But I also agree that all cars, modded and stock, should be eligible. Its a catch 22. And if you read in wingmans garage he has done more than rims. He has made a custom cold air intake which I am pretty sure took longer to do that painting taillights. that being said turtle got my vote. i'm a sucker for clean black cars.

it's about the SONIC of the month. I couldn't care less if it was taken with a Polaroid. I'm looking at Sonics. and if wingman has stuff done to the engine, then I believe he needs to sacrifice one of the pics with such beautiful scenery (lol) and take a pic of the engine bay. Turtlepants gets my vote.

I dont understand how the point of picking out a good set of rims to go with the car and have just the right look is being overlooked. its not like he went to discount and put rims on his car. (or painted the stock ones) He hand picked them. And the tires AFAIK. In a lot of ways, one of the most important exterior mods is a good set of rims and tires.

I look through the entries; just glance at each one. When a picture just grabs my eye and says, "I'm your vote," then I vote for that one. If none snatch my eye, I don't vote.
