Sound system upgrade

Um. . . have no idea what this is a picture of. Also, is the picture turned sideways or? ? ? Like your ideas , , just very hard to follow.

this is the piece of plastic that goes behind the rear door handles, I haven't actually looked but there should be enough space behind there for a tweeter. yeah all the pictures I have posted are sideways, I posted them from my phone and they were automatically oriented like that

I did 50 Sq ft of 80 mil, it's not the thickest you could goto 110 mil, but 50 Sq ft was more than plenty for doors, hatch, and spare tire, plus I also did my wife's car doors, 2016 Prius and did still about 70% coverage.

I would think 80 mil would be plenty, any thicker and you are just adding weight. but thanks! I looked more into this last night and am really considering it now

pulled the trigger on some 80mil gtmat and going to install it next week, now doing research on how to pull all the plastic trim pieces off. bought this trim tool set, hopefully its sufficient enough to pull everything off when its time to replace the head unit:

I bought 2 150W Kicker Hideaway powered subwoofers to install in my 2013 LTZ hatchback. I mounted them on the seatback of the fold down back seats. They have separate level controls that can be mounted in the space near the air vents next to the radio. They sound pretty good however they don't reproduce sound above 150 Hz so they have a tendency to cut out on songs that don't reach that level. I am going to install new door speakers and an amp to resolve the amplified bass issue above the 150 Hz range.

dang. my purposes are just to have a clearer, louder sound that doesn't distort and more bass. I usually have the volume around 26 and these factory speakers start to distort and whatnot around 30, I don't have the volume up super loud and I don't want overwhelming bass, I think even one 12" sub would be overkill for what I'm after. I would think after sound-deadening the doors and trunk and installing the speaker baffles I won't need to have the volume up as much when cruising on the highway

kicker hideaway powered subs will more than likely provide the bass you are looking for.
Look for it on Crutchfield's website. Kicker 11HS8. I have two. When the music is right, they pump...

Do you mean that you are using the speaker level inputs with auto on, and it sometimes dosnt turn on if the song is too quiet, or that it does not play higher pitch notes?
