Spark Plug Gap

It will probably be awhile if at all before an ignition upgrade comes around for our cars simply because of the design, being that its a one pcs integral unit.

Awsome.....the switcu will be easy just one plug, lift, replace ,plug in, done.....of course a little more pricey (as in u cant buy components seperatly) youll just have to save to get at once....but would deffinetly buy....the bov is coming black friday along with full tune upgrade from budget tune

Now, as to which one to run and why 2 completely different motors use the exact same gapping, I couldn't tell you.

Sonic 1.8L has 10:1 CR

The Integra with 1.8L B18 has 10:1 CR with I think .044 Gap and a plug with same Heat Range of 7.

Perhaps it has to do with the engine tuning, high operation temp, or the specs of our coil pack?

Higher temps = more resistance to spark, yes?

When I picked up mt 2017 Sonic with the 1.8L I removed and checked the spark plugs the very next day. I found them to be between 0.023" and 0,026".

I set then all at 0.028" gap. The engine seems pretty responsive with this plug gap. Runs smooth and good pull once warmed up.

Just did the plugs on my 2014 LT with the 1.4. I'm the second owner (got it with 38,000 on it and it has 55,000 now) but I am pretty sure the plugs were original. Going from passenger side to driver side, mine were gapped at .020, .022, .024 and .026. I made sure that all the new ones (acdelco plugs) were at .028 and the idle is smother and the car just feels more responsive. Also, even though the new plugs were supposed to be pre-gapped, all four were under .025 and none were gapped the same. I also noticed the spring inside one of the coil boots was partially stuck up in the boot so I have some doubts as to how good of contact it was getting.
