Special coverage for PCV

I just received a letter from GM today saying they're offering special coverage on my 2012 Sonic. Supposed to cover the pcv/valve cover to 10 years/120,000 miles. Also includes reimbursement.

Anyone else get this letter? Anyone use this special coverage yet? I just replaced valve cover and intake manifold and it cost me about $500 parts and labor. And my Sonic is just below 120k.

Yup, got that letter in the mail yesterday. I replaced my valve cover a year or two ago at around 70,000 miles. I did it myself and the part was around $60 so I am not out too much money but I am going to send the application back and see if they will reimburse me.

Does this only cover 2012 or are other years covered as well? Anyone know? Thanks for any info.

I got the letter for my 2013. The letter is at home so I don't know if it gave the years covered.

I got the letter too and it only gives a specific year per letter. It also identifies the VIN# covered.

In Canada, the coverage has a similar threshold at 10 years/193,000km.

Wow mine had to be replaced twice already, have not received such letter.

I got my letter today. Its not clear if this covers the PCV in the intake or just the diaphragm on the valve cover when it goes bad due to the PCV.

That’s an interesting point. I’ve also had to replace the intake manifold

I went to my Onstar account, and sure enough, my 2014 sedan also qualifies for the valve cover replacement. According to the coverage, it's all turbo Sonics through 2014.

Interested to note they're still not doing anything about the PCV on the manifold. Which doesn't seem to make a lot of sense on me -- doesn't that tend to trigger failure of the diaphragm on the valve cover rather than the other way around?

I didn’t get a letter for my 2013 but started having problems due to failure of the PCV check valve in the intake manifold. I installed the V3.3 fix kit today (Cruzkits.com) and replaced the valve cover to fix the diaphragm as well. Everything good now and I don’t expect another failure
