Stabilitrak Light and Limp Mode

I've had my 2013 Sonic for almost exactly a year now. Today while I was braking down a hill the Stabilitrak light came on and it dinged, then it went into limp mode. I pulled over, turned it off for a minute, then restarted and it was fine. The hill was snow covered and a bit slippery, but I've been driving it and other roads like it for the past winter and the car has never done this. I am in serious financial stress right now and cannot afford a repair, so please tell me it just hit a slippery spot while I was braking and it won't happen again. (It's also been super cold, in the single digits *F, so I'm not sure if that was a factor)
