Subwoofer/Bass

Anyone out there who actually knows what they are doing, know what kind off subs would go good in my sedan? Not looking to shake the car apart, just get some good solid vibrations...and maybe make the car jump if i turn it all the way up

I was thinking just a little bazooka sub tube, but idk what size or wattage or anything, thats where you guys come in, it would be much appreciated!

Also would appreciate any recommendations for speaker upgrades, though, the stock ones are pretty good in my opinion

If the stock speakers are good in your opinion, then something incredibly simple would be your best bet. In my opinion, the stock speakers are terrible, and I blew 3 of them within the first year.

That being said, most of your output on subwoofers comes from a good box, not the sub itself. I designed and built my own box on my current setup, but it's a bit too much for most people. Not to mention most people enjoy their trunk space, whereas I have absolutely no space in my trunk anymore.

I had two Kicker CVR 15s in my trunk and it was plenty loud in a pre made box. I replaced them with two Soundqubed 10s and built my own box and it puts my 15s to shame.

Your budget will determine where to go in this situation, and how in depth you want to go. More details on that would help immensely.

I think you would probably be happy with a 10" or 12" shallow mount sub. Stick with name brand....pioneer, alpine, kicker, sony, infinity, jbl, rockford fosgate. All those companies have both a budget line and a high end line. You get what you pay for so just remember that.

If your okay with the stock speakers then you'd be okay with a middle of the road sub and amp combo. I'm not familiar with bazooka but can tell you that my pioneer 12" in a ported box can get really loud...and it's a good 5 years old, but i lose more than half my hatch space.

For interior speakers you won't notice a huge difference until you put a 4 channel amp to the door speakers. The stock head unit just doesn't put out enough power to justify just changing the speakers alone.

I'll agree to disagree with the above statement. I can build a single 8" enclosure and install an 8" woofer that's not any of those mainstream brands, and it will outperform the above poster's pioneer 12" woofer

The days of pioneer, alpine, kicker, infinity, and jbl are becoming obsolete. Nowadays for subwoofers, companies like Skar, Sundown Audio, Soundqubed, Deaf Bonce, DD, Incriminator Audio, DC Audio, American Bass, Ampre Audio, F8L, and even NVX are all taking over the market. You will not go wrong with any of those choices in today's world.

If you want to stay affordable, the American Bass XD 844 runs about 70 bucks, and the Sundown EV 8 is about the same. American Bass also makes a nice amp for 130 bucks that will match up with that subwoofer quite nicely. So for 2 bills your sub and amp are covered. Wiring can be expensive depending on how crazy you want to go, but for a single 8" sub you'd likely be able to get away with one of those 8 gauge wiring kits off of Ebay that will do the trick for you. Add a line out converter, and find someone local to build a nice transmission line box that won't take a ton of space, and you'll have people thinking you've got a pair of 10s back there with plenty of room to spare. If you weren't half way across the US I'd be more than glad to help you further!

I have a JL 10 sealed box in my spare tire spot and 500 watt amp, just enough to make things shake and completely hidden, but new door speakers are a must and spend a little bit on getting some GTMAT!!! It will make a huge difference, like really big, when I did my car I did 50 to 75% coverage and I was really impressed by how much of a difference there was. But a little amp for the 4 door speakers helps too. If you want more specs let me know, I'm running almost all alpine in my car.

I'm running a Kicker CompR 12 in a ported pre-made box powered by an alpine 1000W along with focal door speakers run by a JL 400W 4 ch. The bass can be subtle but it can also go "omg I can feel my teeth falling out" loud. I had to make a bracket to hold my rearview mirror up when the sub is turned up.

I don't know man.....i think saying all of those are becoming obsolete is a pretty crazy statement. Pioneer continues to improve year after year. I'm sure the other name brands are doing well too. It seems as though a lot of smaller companies are starting to make a name for themselves, which is great because competition is a good thing.

I mainly mentioned name brand because of consistent quality and the biggest reason is customer support. I've read a lot of horror stories involving the smaller companies. I have no first hand experience so just what i've read. Another thing is i think we can all agree that the name brand companies are most likely not going anywhere for a very long time where as the smaller ones could crumble and go bankrupt tomorrow(i hope not tho).

either way it's the OP choice and I hope they do their research before buying an entire system.

Anything in this car is an improvement. I highly recommend a way to control the bass output like a remote for the amp or control from the deck if you upgrade. Being able to adjust the boom on the fly is the biggest factor in enjoying mine (loud to piss off uptight old white people, or quiet when I'm feeling adult)

I went cheap as well, subs were only 119 bucks a piece... I flip quarters on my roof and my door open light comes on when the sub hits so hard it thinks the trunk is open XD

Some people enjoy it... some people don't ride in my car anymore lol
