Super Bowl Ad for Sonic

Its over 39000!
Am I the only one really disappointed with the Sonic ad campaign? Bungee jumping? Kick flips? Sky diving? Does anyone really think this strikes a chord with the target demo?
I really enjoyed the road trip videos much more than the stunt ads. Maybe I am disconnected with todays 20 somethings, but my 18yo spends more time on Tumblr and watching anime than doing extreme sports. Or even her college homework...

Totally agree. The trip videos resonated with me, but I'm out of the target. I'm in the 50 something crowd, but the idea of engineers on a road trip having fun in their car was amazing. So I bought a Sonic.
Seems that throwing the car in the air doesn't really "sell" the car. I guess the idea is more image.

I'm 25 and quite liked the Sonic ad campaign. It was incredibly unique, as far as I'm aware for a car. The commercial was great, but mostly because of the song they chose.

Oh, I like the song. It's my wife's favorite at the moment. Almost bought tickets to see them in March.
Since you're 25, what do you think of the extreme sports they show the Sonic doing? Is skydiving something you want to do or like doing? Do you admire people that go base jumping or free climb? How does that translate to your car?
I think the marketing should be concentrating on urban environments. Road trips. Connectivity with your phone and devices. What do I care if some guy modified a car to do a barrel roll?

Being born in the "digital age", I've always felt advertising is less about what your product can do and more about keeping the product in your memory. If something sticks in my mind, I'm more likely to just google it and find out what I want to know. You usually find out way more that way anyway. It's why I ended up choosing the Sonic over all its competitors.
EDIT: If the adverts had nothing but just tech specs and what not, people would just be bored and never bother to investigate further. They'd just be like, "Well, my car has more HP or such and such. No need to check that out."

I love the commercials, 24, in the military.
Haven't watched this one yet (internet is really bad right now) but the short ads of the kickflip, skydive, bungee jump, worlds largest claw machine, are great to get people to search out information on the Sonic, attention grabbers.
From there you see the videos of the road trip, take a test drive etc. For to long GM ads were boring out just odd.
First new car, and first time I even considered a small car. 20 somethings are all in that mindset of firsts I guess.

Hardly. My dad will be 48 in May and hes in better shape than I am (24 today)

I didn't realize that Ok Go was part of the Sonic campaign. They are amazing. Sonic will have huge awareness after this.
