Of course it would make it less reliable, but the idea was to have it linked to a button not make it last forever

Clutch activated superchargers have been used in OEM applications.![]()
Did you already know that, or did you learn that from reading the comments on youtube of the video clip I posted?
How hard is it to turn the A/C off until you get to 2nd? I do it all the time. In fact the fan still blows cold air from the residual condensed refrigerant.
In all honesty I can't see it being useful either. There are plenty of mods that will give u a little more off the line without spending super/pro/turbo kind of money. Unless ur gonna go real fast, add horses and torque in other areas. Maybe lighten up the car. If ur still not satisfied but a sti.
I agree, except for trying to satiate with a Subaru.
A much simpler/cheaper approach is a small nitrous shot programmed to engage at the lower half of the powerband.
This is the 3rd car I've owned were I benefit from toggling the A/C off/on for better acceleration. Down here in the lower working class it's pretty common.![]()
essentially the same idea, but superchargers aren't designed to have pulley float like the a/c compressor, if the pulleys spinning, the rotors are spinning. i think it would make a supercharger less reliable to have something make the rotors engage with the pulley (similar to a clutch engaging) simply because the high rpm's at which the pulley is spinning.
