Tentative RS Order Date

As someone who has (probably) ordered more vehicles than anyone else on this forum: yes, it is normal to place a deposit but the deposit (at least in my experience) is definitely refundable. Corvette or Camaro usually command a $500 deposit. The rest a $100 deposit. My standard is when I have an order number the dealer will get my deposit.

I tried ordering mine today and the dealer told me that they were still unable to order them, but he said he would call me the second they started accepting orders. So looks like I have to wait some more for mine . Awesome that we have at least one member that has placed their order though!

Latest word is the Sonic RS should be available for ordering August 30 and is scheduled to start production October 1. There will be a 5% constraint through out the model year. This means no more than 5% of each weeks production may be the RS model.

This is good stuff and expect will be proven accurate.

RS orders can be built on the GM AutoBook and the GM Global Connect but are not actual orders until entered into the Order WorkBench, which now can happen beginning August 30.

I will be on the Horn early tomorrow to my dealer to try to order again.... Just sold my Aveo so I will be driving my beater vehicle till my RS comes in.... Glad I sold it and not traded it got 1600 more to sell it on my own. Sold in 17 days not paying for any adds either

Well the Production at Orion plant is 500 Sonics a day and 300 Verano. So if 5% holds true there should be about 25 Sonic RS build per productions day!

Up to 5% but not more than for the rest of the production year. Using your 500/day I calculate 3600 give or take or 550/day would come closer to 4000.

In other words, the order has been pulled.

Next step, 2500, is when the dealer uses one of the total number allocated so the car can be scheduled to go into production. From 2500 to customer delivery takes about six weeks, give or take a week.

This timeline applies to specialty order such as the Sonic RS, due to the unpredictable amount of time it may take for a dealer to get allocation. Normal timeline starts on the first Tuesday after the order is entered.

Very good news. Congrats. Because yours is one of the earliest orders I am wondering if the start of regular production has been delayed a week.

You should see 3100 (parts ordered for assembly) and 3300 (order scheduled for production) very soon, but altho not usual to get a TPW at 3000 it is not unknown.
