Has anyone had a extremely long wait time for tuning from Trifecta? I have been waiting a months for a tune correction that works correctly with my 14' Sonic RS Auto Trans.

I purchased my tune in the middle of January.

I am hoping they are working really hard on a select a tune setup.
My biggest issue is with the MPG.

We apologize for the time it has taken. However, we need to clarify: the wait time has not been the entire time since January. You have had two separate calibrations between that time and continuous communication from us about what is going on.

Despite us telling you that Select A Tune is not possible, you keep asking for it to be added. We apologize that it cant be done, it's just not part of the programming that is currently out.

The other thing is that you loved the aggressive tune that you first got but complained about fuel usage. These two go hand in hand unfortunately. High performance early on in the powerband, means lessened fuel economy. However, to try and accommodate your request, we issued you a revision that was not as aggressive with the throttle mapping down low and provided a kick at WOT. You didn't like the not-as-aggressive-feel of this one, even though MPG were better.

After this the best we could do is escalate to an engineer to try and figure something out for you. And that's where we are. Like I said earlier, we apologize for the time that has passed but we haven't been able to find a happy medium with you just yet.

I have an engineer that is trying to cook up something for you now. You should be hearing from us soon.

I understand that you (Trifecta) are "Working" with me. Every Time you send me a new tune it is TOTALLY different from what I received the first tine. Since I am feeling like you are calling me out here and I feel like I need to defend myself I am going to tell my side of the story.

My first tune with Trifecta was for my 2012 Buick Regal GS. That tune was spot on with no adjustments needed. I took that to be a good sign Trifecta was a company the engineers a solid product.
Flash Forward to Jan this year I bought a Sonic RS and thought I would tune it. I looked at the options and I based my decision on my Regal Tune from trifecta for my Sonic.
I went to BNR since I order most of my tuning parts from them and ordered the trifecta tune.
After receiving the Flash for my car I stated to BNR immediately the following issue:
1. Throttle Too Sensitive.
2. MPG Down but not necessarily that much in the city but on the hwy.
3. Manual mode down shifts automatically when accelerating hard in all gears. It does not do this stock.
Then I sent two log files of the issues.
Over a month goes by and I get a new tune that is basically the stock tune with only WOT performance! It was so bad I went back home and flashed back to first tune with the poor fuel economy. I won't go into the issues with that tune.
Now I am another month gone by and I have TWO more tunes. I was asked by Trifecta not to reveal the tune content, but these are not road ready either.
I even offered more money to trifecta to get the tune to the way I want it. (Even though I shouldn't have to).
My point to all this is this. If you go to the store and buy something you expect it to be complete, QA’d and ready for you as a consumer to use then it should be just that Ready TO Use. No one want to buy a TV and have to go home and solder the last few components on then get a test meter and an oscilloscope to QA it before watching your favorite movie etc.
Well I feel the same way. I purchased a tune that was supposed to be a performance tune for my car that WORKED out of the box. I have been testing YOUR product free of charge for 3 months now. I should send you a bill at my hourly rate.

The product is Q&A'd and ready. You seem to have very specific tastes and we have issued calibration revision after calibration revision to try and match that, even though you are did not purchase Elite service, you are receiving it.

90% of all other customers have been happy with their calibration as is. Although every time we issue you a revision, you seem to have something new that you want addressed or added.

We even went as far as creating an entirely new version of the calibration just for you. So, we have been working with you to try and provide you with something YOU want not the community.

Your last message to us was that it was great! And that you love it. Then you reply a day later saying that it's TOO HOT.
So this has been your MO with us so far:
- We issue a calibration
- You tell us you don't like it, that's too hot and MPG is crappy
- We issue another calibration
- You tell us its too soft, not enough power
- We issue you another revision
- You say it still feels too slow, not enough power
- We issue you a completely customized new calibration just for you
- You say its perfect, but a day later, you say its too hot, again

We are trying really hard here but nothing we do seems to sit well with you.

You guys are killing me! Why in the damn world would I be wasting my time and spending my hard earned money just to complain your product does not meet what you publish the tune to do. I have tuned cars for over 17 years and never had issues with shifting, eratic throttle response etc. if your goal was only WOT then maybe that is what you should advertise! If you cannot deliver a a FULLY working tune for an AUTOMATIC sonic RS then give me my money back and I will move on! BTW- calling you your customers out on a public forum is bad for business. Just sayin guys!

I can see both sides, but if you're not happy with a boxed tune that other like and they try to customize it, you still don't like it, perhaps you should work with a local tuner or buy a program and have at it. I had to get ver 2.0 before I was mostly happy. I have a small tweak i'm working on and may take some data log, but the new tune seems to work for me...but I have manual trans. When i bought this product I realized it was a box tune for the most part and actually having WOT made changes with our feedback is great...in fact given the fact they had my money already it was beyond what I expected, doing so multiple times is even more so in your case.

Of course the auto tune is probably more complicated, as it has all the shifting stuff to address as well.

I don't think WOT is calling you out per-se, but they are giving their point of view.

Ronmaf, I agree with Dirkdaddy and given the nature and completeness of your complaints, I find myself agreeing with WOT. My suggestion, not that it is worth anything, flash back to stock and get a local to do a dyno tune. That way you can complain off the forum and we both will be the wiser.


Or in the alternative continue your complaints here as you know I will receive them most sympathetically. (Is that an actual word?)

I digress fellas. I really dont have time to go back and forth with this. I am way too busy and this has monopolized most of my time. I expected the tune to work like the tunes I received in the past. Maybe this is a hard car to tune. Who knows and I dont care. I will focus on other things that dont need a tune.

Similar programming logic found in the Regal AT was applied to the Sonic/Cruze 1.4T AT. The same logic of holding on to gears a tad longer and the same downshifting strategy was applied. My 2014 Regal GS AT behaves in much the same fashion as your description of the sonic.

This is why we are working on a new version of Select A Tune that has a Stock side and a Performance side. So that you can drive in Stock mode and have all the mushy shifting and lethargic fuel sipping feel during daily driving, but be able to switch over to the performance side whenever you want

We hope to have this released to the community soon.

I wasn't trying to call you out like you did to me! This is so unprofessional of a business. I am the buyer, you are the person selling the product. You the seller state a product setting a certain expectation by the buyer which is me.
Calling out your buyer on a public forum is NOT a good way to further your business or earn my further business.
Although I appreciate your willingness to TRY and correct your product, you never are able to correct it properly to the set expectation advertised!
I am happy to be your advocate and would rather post on a positive experience, but I feel there is a severe lack of communication in this process and now finger pointing which seems childish to a well known established company.
Lets agree to disagree.

I switched to using HPT and have a far more reliable and safer for the engine tune.

Im not saying that they screw over everyone, but they deffiantely dropped the ball on more than a few people and dont seem to actually care. I should have listened to others from previous platforms but I didnt. At the time Trifecta was the only option.

Glad you are now happy with the way your vehicle is running. Sorry you feel you got lousy customer service and support. You're definitely in the minority that's for sure.

As I stated before. We are a large company with thousands of calibrations on the 1.4T platform sold. There is bound to be unhappy customers. It's just how it goes. We wont continue to engage you on the topic.

TRIFECTA programming changes every now and again. The very last update from Oct. 2014 removed Select A Tune. Once a product changes, we do not issue calibrations based on previous code. It's just TRIFECTA policy.

I am afraid I cant answer that question. I wont know until they are ready to release the software. All I know is that it should be soon.

Putting aside all emotions I wanted to apologize to all for making this personal.
I think Trifecta makes a great tune when they arent streched thin. My Tune from two years ago was spot on for my 12' Regal GS.
I have had several early revisions of the sonic select a tune and that most likely why I am so disgruntled. The tunes just arent polished! Maybe with time they will iron out the issues on the sonic Automatic.
