Trunk won't open on my 2017 Sonic

I did find a thread related to this issue on the earlier Sonics.

I'm hoping that maybe Chevy upgraded the quality of the BCM and fixed this issue by 2017. In addition, this car was wrecked when I bought it at auction, so initially, I thought it might be related (figured fuse blown). Turns out that is not the case.

What I have tried:
1) Checked "L/GATE" fuse which was good
2) Swapped "L/GATE RELAY" with the "RUN RELAY" in the fuse panel
3) Replaced the actuator

Still doesn't work with either the remote or the switch in the console. I have no problem using a schematic to troubleshoot the issue, but my library's Chilton service doesn't have much for early Sonics, much less a 2017 (nothing).

Anyone have schematics that I can view to try and narrow this down? Any suggestions? Thanks!

No, is that a requirement? It's an automatic.

I haven't owned a GM in 21 years and most of my vehicles are older. Since I posted this last night, I reconnected the battery (not driving it currently), put the key in the door lock cylinder, locked it, unlocked it, opened the door, and pressed and held the remote trunk open button and it opened for the first time.

I tried this since I saw many people stating a sequence of cycling locks and stuff to get it to work. Parking brake was still off at that point when it worked.

I guess I'll try it more once I get the car on the road and see if I have intermittent issues.

Great memory on your part! I'm in $4800 on it at this point, but that's with functional air bags, seat belts and all new Chevy body parts up front. For a car that's 1.5 years old and 22K miles, I think I can handle it. Needs wheels really bad though.

Here's what it looks like now. Still needs some minor door repair and paint.

Looks good! For my LS, I picked up some OEM Chevy 15” alum wheels off a 2014 Sonic at a junkyard for about $375 including TPMS and used the original steelies for snow tires...although from the photo it doesn’t look like you get much snow where you are!

Seen snow less than 10 times in the last 25 years and only 2 or 3 times where it even stuck at all. Made a 8" snowman on the back of my Mustang like 8 years ago.

Bought a set of Sonic LTZ wheels with TPMS on ebay from a wrecking yard super cheap ($252 shipped) 2 weeks ago. Then one had some very minor curb damage, so they refunded me for a wheel. Then, I found 205/45ZR17 tires on walmart.com for $218/set including tax. Spent $78 for mount/balance and then $12 on lugs. Cost me a total of $497 for the wheels with new tires. Feel like it was a smoking deal and I love the look!
