This is my review of TurboTechRacing's solid engine and trans mount.
The Install:
All together the install is very simple and straight forward. I had to jack up each side of my Sonic so I could fit the jack under the front of my car. I then cut a piece of plywood (6"x 8-12") and put it on the jack. I then jacked up under the oil pan until it pushed up on it slightly. From there it was a matter of taking off my intake, taking the old engine mount off, and then in with the new one.
The trans mount (lower mount) was even more simple. Kept both sides of my Sonic jacked up on the jack stands, then I used the jack to support the transmission. Two bolts later, the stock mount was out, and from there it was a matter of reinstalling the same bolts into the new mount.. DONE!
Performance:
Of course the most important aspect of this mod, performance. When I first started my car, a little bit of vibration is noticeable. Especially between 900-2000RPM range. I personally like the vibration (Vibration= Racecar.) The vibration that is produced is very tolerable and does not annoy me at all. I could immediately tell that my shifts were much more "clean" feeling. It is more direct and less sloppy. Also when shifting at WOT, the car maintains power and does not feel as if my car was going to explode. Very smooth transition even at high RPMs. The throttle response is very noticeable as well. Along with getting the power directly to the wheels. I was merging into some traffic after yielding to about 6mph in first gear. I then proceeded to use my big toe too put the pedal too the floor mat... Tire spin all the way through first, then second, then I was gone. End of story.
Overall:
Overall, I highly recommend these mounts to any Sonic owner. There's no need to question yourself if you are considering. You should FOR SURE get these mounts if you are upgrading your car performance wise as well. And on a side note, you cannot beat TTR's customer service. They respond almost immediately and come up with quick solutions to your concerns. No I do not rep TTR. Just being honest here.
Best Regards,
Alex
