Under the Hood?

Out of curiosity would painting certain components under the hood be a bad thing? You know like how they do at car shows where some people paint some hoses and bolts to make parts stand out. I know theres a fine line between it looking cool and cheap. But would/have any of you done this or know someone who did? Can you post some pics?

I think most people paint the hard plastic parts (battery, engine, fuse box covers) and replace the hoses with colored hoses. And the line between cool and tacky is up to you and only you.

I don't like if it's a bright color like yellow, but don't mind it if it's dark blue or similar. Just personal opinion.

Thanks. And the theme for my car is the hulk, so its a black base with green accents, and just a little bit of purple on the wheels (brake calipers, valve covers, lugnuts/locks).

You can buy alot of this at you nearest auto part store. In fact, the colored hosing that you are talking about, usually they have spools of hosing you just have to tell them what size that you do need.

For the spark plug wire sleeves you can order that too. that is just almost plug and play.

In the car club that I belong to, I have seen people put a then lair of line-X then paint and it comes out us fine. I have always used thin coats high-temp paint ( so it would not crack and flake off from the excessive heat),sand paper, and an air brush. Lastly, I will tell you to take you time and practice.


I will look for some photos of the engine work that I did to my Galant and I will post them so you can have something to some kind of idea.

I painted my top cover on the motor red to go with my "SS" theme. It looks way good.

I posted I think one or two of the engine, one before i put the carpet and racing seats in, and the before i started my mods to the car.

It sounds good but have you really looked at those colors toghter. I have always built my cars to complement the color of the car. It does not need to have loud colors to be seen but when you drive by people look because it is a nice looking car.

That is a engine cover. It covers your valve cover. Nice job though, it looks nice.

My buddy pointed me towards there paint (thats what he used on his lancer)

he does a step by step on his build channel

But yea very good paint matches car perfectly and I recommond their clear coat
