As it is looking my car is coming in late november to early december. Should i wax it when i first get it or wait until spring? Waiting till spring for the tints

I waxed and polished my celica when I first got it and it was a huge difference. That car was 10 years old when I got it though. I know I wanna wax the car I just wanna get ideas as to when since this is the first brand new car I am buying.
I did some research. Apparently, all waxes are not created equally, and clearcoats still need them. However, there are waxes that are safe for clearcoat, and I was probably not using one of those when I added a lovely haze to my truck years ago. So time to read the label of whatever wax you might get. Live and learn.

something else to keep in mind when consider wax is that all the new paints (2007 and later) are water based now and take a different type of wax. Using Wax designed for oil based paints can scratch water based paints.
I'm a once a quarter car wax guy. I'll wash the car as needed. I probably should get in a better habit, but white requires little maintenance except for washes. I found a really good site that was recommended on another forum.

I detailed cars for my Father-in-Law for quite awhile a few years back. I even learned to use high-speed buffers/polishers... which I don't recommend on a new car for those who have never used them... you can burn and damage new paint, EASILY!
Let me give you three words of advice for both washing and waxing... that is for those who want advice:
1. Micro-fiber towels/cloths!
2. Micro-fiber towels/cloths!
3. Micro-fiber towels/cloths!
Wash your car with a micro-fiber cloth, dry with a micro-fiber towel to absorb all water and prevent spots, then apply and take wax off with micro-fiber cloths/towels also.
I can't stress the above enough. Using anything else (with the exception of soft, yet dense sponges that come with certain waxes solely for application), even regular terry cloth towels will leave swirl marks (fine scratches) in your paint which will eventually look like cobwebs when light hits the paint.
Always be gentle when washing, drying, applying and removing wax. Do one section at a time as most waxes recommend. Gently massage wax on and off... don't press hard or bare-down with force in order to apply and/or remove it.
If you're doing a wax on a brand new car as a precautionary sealant, then make sure the finish is free of dirt, and dry (even fine dust will [definitely] scratch your paint), and I recommend a good quality Carnuba Wax. Follow directions for whatever brand used.
Again, remember the 3 most important washing/waxing items:
1. Micro-fiber towels and cloths!

too old school. This does not apply to new cars, only repaired cars. New cars the paint is baked on. Repaired cars, almost all repair shops do not have the tools to dry the paint, so you have to wait. That car is ready for wax now.

I shall wax it tomorrow then! Thanks for the info.
I won't do my usual 2-3 day routine, but just get a layer of wax on it before Winter really sets in.
I hand washed it tonight and already I have a good amount of paint chips after 450 miles :\ not that wax will stop that, but I hope this thing isn't rashed in 6 months beyond recognition.

I was about to use a paint sealant on my 2013 White Diamond Tri-coat LTZ, however, In the Sonic's owners manual it says not to use paint sealants, so I didn't. I called GM and they could not elaborate on what the manual stated. They said not to use it if that's what it says. I use straight carnauba wax. By the way, the factory paint job on my car is exceptional!

I believe you can use sealants, just not some permanent coating. The way the manual is worded is very strange.
