What is causing this?

Every time I pull into my apartment complex to park, I notice a small trail of liquid behind my car. The trail is only a few feet long and is not a steady stream. It seems to match up perfectly with the tail pipe.

I don't believe it is coming from the tire as I do not run through any water, and feel that a tire water mark would be much wider.

No puddles are under the car after being parked overnight. I have checked the oil and radiator levels and they are all perfect.

Could my muffler have water in it?

It seems to evaporate after a few minutes. I'm guessing it's water. Water might have gotten in my muffler when I was spraying the underbody at the car wash a few weeks ago. Any other guesses?

Check to see if the drain hole in the muffler is plugged. Its been a while since I looked, but I think its at the front of the muffler. I am assuming of course that you have a stock muffler still.

You've never seen water come out of other cars' mufflers before? It happens all the time. Water is exactly what it is, coming out of your exhaust. Google search "why does water come out of my muffler?" and read the dozens of explanations.

If it has no smell or ummm... tast, then its water and its either coming from your muffler or your a/c either way its normal.

Of it has a smell or taste then it shouldn't be coming out of your car.

but like Eric says...dip a finger, and give a taste. it's water..
the a/c will run when defrost runs, but not below a certain outside temp I think... but you do make water when you burn gasoline (that and all that other stuff, co2, co, etc...)

If you do a lot of short drives, it may not have had time to get hot enough in the muffler to boil/evaporate the water out of the pipes.

But seriously. Its just water. Dirty dirty water. If there was enough of any other liquid coming out of your exhaust (unburnt fuel, coolant...) you would have a million other issues.
