Definitely not a GM thing. These compact cars are made in Korea...I think...I know they're not made in America ha. So everything is made to save money....which ends up costing the customer more in the end....Having to replace the water outlet myself ha.
The Sonic was not made in Korea. They were made in Michigan.
Now many of the plastic parts are made in various countries.
That said, the design for Sonic was U.S. based and Korea.
And many of the engines were made in Europe. . Hungary for instance.
To me, this is a benefit because Sonic parts are available in many parts of the world. In Australia the SOnic is called Barina. In parts of Europe it is Aveo. And the list goes on.
Every modern day manufacturer gets plastic and other parts made and supplied from many foreign countries.
