Ok I'm confused.

I believe the sticker on my Sonic was like $17,700 or something damn close. Hatch LT 1.4 +6M blue topaz and connectivity. How have I seen other ones on this thread with what appear to be the same options but with a sticker price in the 16s!?

I mean I assume a hatch 1.4 turbo manual LT with connectivity is what it is, there arn't really any other options.

2013 Summit White LT 1.4T manual w/connectivity MSRP $17,990 - $700 discount - $750 USAA rebate + $450 new tag(shameful)/title +6.5% FL sales tax +$55 FL tire/battery surcharge. $695 inescapable dealer fee which included window tint, nitrogen fill, window etching and fabric protection.

Both deals involved trades, which reduces sales tax and makes it impossible to compare OTD prices. I don't think I necessarily got the BEST deals, but I believe they were fair deals, receiving above KBB "excellent condition" trade in value on both.

I probably could have made a better deal on a 1.8 LT auto sedan, since 95+% of dealer inventory in central Florida is this configuration. There are very few hatchbacks, even fewer turbo hatches, and fewer still turbo hatches with manual transmission and sunroof. I spent several hours searching dealer inventory online and found a total of 9 turbo hatchbacks with roof (4 LTZs and 5 RSs) within 300 miles of downtown Orlando.

I believe my total financed amount for my 2012 1LT hatchback (no connectivity) was around $21K and that was with $3500 in negative equity (after down payment) from my Chrysler Sebring convertible. Taxes in CO are also a bit high and everything but registration and plates were included in my financed amount, as well as 4 years of oil changes (works out slightly better, even with interest, than paying for them each time). I did get $750 off the MSRP and they did not charge me for, nor activate, that stupid window etching thing that dealers like to do. I got mine back in early March 2012 and Sonics were still not in plentiful supply and my car had sat on the lot for only a few weeks (manufactured mid-Feb 2012).

Due to my poor credit I have a rather high APR (13.59%) although I hope to refinance this year with a credit union. I may not have gotten the best deal around (I hate car shopping and haggling) but I got something I like for a price I was willing to pay. The gas and maintenance savings put me a little ahead of my previous car, even with higher payments, and the peace of mind of a new car is immeasurable.

I was $15.1k out the door. '12 lt sedan 1.4t 6mt with connectivity, pre-owned with only 9600 miles. Traded a Jetta which gave me a few hundred in equity and basically wiped out the taxes.
