Yep two days ago.
You have to rotate the injectors 90 degrees of you want to use the stock retainer clips but they will stay in place without the clips.
So far I haven't noticed much of a difference on either power or mileage. I'm still getting 40+mpg at 55.
You can do the swap without removing anything else, you just need a t25 (I think) and a small metric wrench like a 10mm I think. And try to have the car parked so that it is pointed uphill so the fuel doesn't run out of the rail and get all over you.

This is how I have my retainer clip done at a 45° angle and the injectors at stock angle

1.8 guy here. if we do the tune on 93 octane with upgraded injectors...do u think it will be a gain???

i believe the only gain you will get is at wot. at long periods of time at wot the stock injectors cant keep up. I also want the bigger injectors eventually..

NewZJ thanks for the pictures and advice. I am in the process of deciding when to convert to big injectors and then E85. Might do everything at once still have some time to think about it. The car goes to the body shop this Friday hopefully it won't stay too long!��

Upgrading injectors does NOTHING for performance. They let you inject more fuel into the cylinder, that's it. They dont make more power, they LET you make more power (bigger turbo, more boost, bolt ons, etc).
The tune controls the injection amount (and must be properly adjusted for the new injectors) and fuel pressure plays a part as well.

No gain from upgraded injectors. I doubt you could even max out the stock injectors running E-85 on the 1.8. It just doesn't have as dynamic of operating requirements as the 1.4t.
The 1.4t flows way more air once tuned, which requires way more fuel. Since the stock injectors were designed to match stock airflow rates they run out of flow capacity once tuned (and trying to properly fuel an engine with way more breathing capacity).
Since they're at max duty cycle, upgraded injectors can allow for alil more power at peak torque and maybe upper RPM. With E-85 fuel requirements go up even more because of the richer stoich necessitating bigger injectors to properly support full flow all the way thru the rev range.

So, does anyone know what duty cycle the stock injectors are at with the budget tune and say... An intake? If your maxing out the stock ones (to the point of possible failure) why would you even use the budget tune, if you wish to maintain longevity wouldn't injectors be the first logical upgrade?
