White Smoke - Tailpipe

Hello, I have a 2013 1.8 Sonic LS Hatch with 120k miles.

Recently it was accelerating very slowly and I realized I was late to change spark plugs. While changing the plugs I noticed some oil leaking from valve cover so decided to do that too.
I ordered the valve cover with gasket from 1a auto. Installation went fine, carefully torqued to 71in/lbs but the new cover leaked into my spark plug wells and I got white smoke occasionally from the tailpipe.
1a auto sent a replacement and I installed again to specs. No visible leaks but still smoking. Next I changed the pcv hose and it ran smooth for several days getting 38 mpg, but eventually blew a small cloud of smoke.
Any suggestions on what I can check?

Exact same thing happening to my fiancé's 2013. Same replacements, then big clouds, now just occasional puffs (I followed and watched). Not sure if it's sinister enough to worry about or not.

Hi, did you ever figure out what was wrong? Mine is behaving similarly.

well the awesome thing about the PCV system on this engine is there is a small check valve on the intake manifold that goes bad.... so you get to replace the entire manifold to "fix" the piece of plastic the size of a dime. =_=
