Widest tires I can get?

Wheel Information:

Size: 17x7.5
Offset: +40mm
Backspacing: 5.79"
Bolt Pattern: 5-105
Rec. Tire Size: 205/50-17

What are the widest tires I can possibly get on those wheels/this car? I was thinking some 245/40/17 or even 255/40/17, or even 275/40/17 but I'm not sure if it's doable? Whats the biggest I Can get without rubbing? I'm running Eibachs btw. I don't mind a bit of stretch but not a crazy amount where it becomes unsafe.

235/45/17 will work, Eric and other members have done it, add some 5mm DDM works spacers for a more flush with the fenders look. Any bigger your gonna need wider wheels with a lower offset (or spacers) see MPFabs thread with his beefy 255s

Stick to the 235/45 (they only throw the speedo off 1.01%)
235/40's put it at 2.74% not to mention for the ride quality 45's would be better and giving your rim that much more protection.

Another option you could go with 17x8 wheels(ASA GT5 I believe that are on tirerack) with 5mm spacers and run 245/40/17s, that was my plan before my RS wheel buyer backed out.

I think I'm going to stick with the 7.5" - they are gunmetal gray color, really the wheels I'm looking for. I'll go with 235's then, thanks for the help. I called TireRack and they won't even mount 235/40/17 on the 7.5" wheel, apparently it'll be too much stretch to their standards. So I'm going with 235/45/17 then.

I'm runnin 205/55/17s with eibach and pretty sure 7.5 wheel. Rides good and looks good pretty good in my opinion

205 wayy to narrow for what I'm going for. Your car does look great though, loving the build. I may be pushing it here, but 245/45/17? Tire Rack will mount them...but will it rub?

As I have posted in the past: there is only one way to find out!

I will say this, if you go forward as proposed, I expect there will be rub. But if one is going to walk the on the edge, one should not be concerned as to how reality intrudes on ones plans.

I am planning on running the same wheel (17x7.5) but with 42mm offset. I'm also trying to find out how wide I can go with this size wheel. Would 235/45/17 also be my best bet?

I don't want the profile of my tire to be any smaller than stock, btw. Same size if anything.

I had a 225 on a stock LTZ 17" wheel (Scot's winter wheel/tires now), a full 1" extra of wheel and only 10mm of tire... I think you'll be okay with 235 and I know people have put wider on these cars. Check out Discount tire, they actually have store fronts and the ones I have dealt with have great customer service (they where willing to try different tires/sizes until we both were happy).

Well I planned to go with 235 but in the end I got such a great deal on 225/45 that I couldn't pass it up. Honestly, looks great. I'm happy.

The one by 696? I have been to that one a few times and at least one manager there raced his car in auto X. He was well aware of how to keep a customer happy and make sure they got what they wanted/needed.

I'm looking at the xxr 968 18x9 et35 back spacing 6.38 On a 225/35...think I'll have any problems with clearance issues as I am very low on b c coilovers
