Your thoughts on the digital speedometer

I love the gauge! There are plenty of cars that have tried this, but the sonic clinging to the sport bike style really makes it work. It brings that youthful sporty appeal and I'm sure it will be a big hit. I highly doubt it will be limited over 85...and if they do that would be super lame.

I really like the looks of the guage cluster, it was one of the things that drew me to this car. Would like to have the ability to configure it to my personel taste. Would also like to be able to monitor more data like boost, engine/tranny temps, intak/exhaust temps ect... The sensors are already thier, the car is alrady monitoring this data why can't I access it. The cost would be minimal.

Yes, I too would like to view a lot of the information that the car's brain is monitoring. It seems that it would aid in maintaining the car's life and in getting the most out of the car. Weather you are seeking speed, gas mileage or just the entertainment of watching all the pretty gauges!

I wish the bottom dummy light section was replaced with an LCD that gave useful information such as cruise setting, tire PSI, etc.

There is a review summary on cars.com and one of their cons is that the "steering wheel can obstruct view of unique instrument cluster". Has anyone come across this issue?

I have this issue. I think its a combination of being 6 foot 2 and the spot where I have my seat. I've tried moving everything so that I can see the whole cluster, but if I remember right since the last time I paid attention, I can't see the top row of dummy lights without moving

same i like my steering wheel really low... im not nearly as tall as you (or tall for that matter ) but i cant see the top of the rev counter from about 6,500-8,000

yes this is absolutely true. if i want to set my steering wheel at a good comfortable position, the top of it blocks the top half of the gauges. in order to see your entire gauge cluster you have to tilt it up more. which to me having a steering wheel too high feels like driving a semi lol

yes but i like my seat a little higher so as i dont feel like a midget barely looking over the windows haha not that im short or anything 5'11. my comfortable setup does slightly block my gauge cluster though.

i'm 6' tall and i like my seat all the way down and slightly back. then i pull the wheel all the way out and down. thats a comfy position. i drive 150+ miles a day and enjoy the ride. try different positions. i did, and i like that postition the most, aside from the canine pose.

Personally, I dig the digital speedometer. I'm not as big a fan of the tach, though. It just seems unnecessarily large. I, too, miss the volt meter and the temperature gauge.

look into the ultraguage. i bought one the other day and it tells more than one ever needs to know. its a great tool.

I like the big tach, only thing missing is a programable shift light, but really makes driving with the radio on a breeze and allows the eye on the road for shifting purposes.

Heres a thought too. If these are indeed just radio fq based, there must be some sort of aftermarket reciever that can accept the signal. I've seen aftermarket tpms in the past, a small little guage to go on a key ring or in the glove box, dash etc.

I like it. My last car was an 86 300ZX with digital gauges, and I liked them... but they didn't even last a year before they died and I had to replace them with analog. As long as the Sonic's gauges don't go out, I'll be fine with them.

I just wish it had a temp gauge. Not that I'm expecting problems with a new car... maybe I'm just too used to my old cars.

Alot of Z guys, Z32 ones especially, don't have love for Z31's.
I on the other hand had an 84 NA and man was I jealous of guys like you with the 86/digital setup and especially the late models - they started getting nice n curvy!

All right! I'd just like to ask our new owners if they've had their Sonics up over 85 mph, and if so, if the speedometer does or does not "stick" at 85. (Or 99, if you dare.)

I hit 100 and that is what it said. Didn't take long to get there either which I am very pleased about
