ZZP Intake Installed - Car Seems Slower Now

First off, my car was stock except for the trifecta tune. I told Wot-tuning to simply tune for a stock car, but to enable ecp just incase I bought a bov.

Over the weekend I installed the ZZP intake and took it out for a drive. I noticed quite a bit less torque and the car seemed a bit slower overall when compared to the factory intake. I double checked the intake and its definitely not an install problem.

I was wondering if this is a tune issue. Does the tune have to be modified for the increase in air flow? Has anyone else been through this? So far the intake is just a noise maker that robs power.

I have sent an email to Wot-tuning about this also and I will try to get two data logs sent to them. One with the factory intake and one with the ZZP intake.

If it isn't tuned for it it won't work as good

This seems odd to me. When i was on stock tune and installed my ddm intake i noticed a little more oomph until the ecu pulled the power back down to stock after a little bit of driving. (so i know it wasn't placebo) I am sure you installed it all correctly, but you may want to check to make sure no air is escaping out the of the couplings. Also, i have noticed that unless my car is at like 175 degrees of coolant temp or higher, the tune will limit you to 9 psi. Do you have an ultra gauge to see what your temp is? With it being so cold out it does take a long time to hit that mark. (a lot longer then you would think)

Also if you have an ultra gauge can you tell us what the LTFL is reading during normal acceleration/highway cruising.

It also may take some time for the tune to pick up on the added power and changes to your AFR before it can maximize the power for it.

Overall the power gain wont be much but you should definitely not feel a loss of power.

I usually wait to get on it after I just started the car so it can warm up. I've noticed the low boost until its up to operating temp. I will check everything again with the intake later on.

I don't have a ultra gauge so I can't send info. I was wondering if the tune could adjust for it like you were saying.

Im sure they can it will just a little while to get a response from your data log. I would probably send the file as soon as you can.

Without the insert the ZZP will not work well and will throw codes unless tuned.

So either put the insert back or get a proper tune.

Or abandon the ZZP intake and put the oem back in place.

He is tuned, just maybe not for that intake.

My point exactly. It has been more than a year since we were told ecm alone would not always work for aftermarket intakes. I never understood why.

I think I'm having the same issue right now actually. I don't have an ultra gauge but butt dyno says I lost some with my RNI. I did however gain some mpg over my dirty stock filter.

I have since datalogged and reviewed with WOT tuning and they said everything looked spot on. They did send a modified version of the original tune for other settings and that one seems even slower. It's too hard to verify right now though since its so cold out and that could also be causing some of my problems. I still want to swap back to the original intake and test it. I will update when weather permits. 7 degrees makes traction difficult.

No I don't. I don't have a trifecta tune and I have to pay to get mine modified which I can't even do until the official tune is done. I was a Diablo sport tester . I did get my check engine lite to go out. It was just exhaust. I still feel slow.
