ZZP Intake without insert with full tune...wait for update?

Just purchased and installed a ZZP intake without an insert and installed on my car. Logged cruse and WOT pull and sent it off. The car is not throwing any CEL or pending trouble codes. Should I have any reason to take it off and wait or just drive until i receive the updated tune. The car feels and drives the same minus it sounds like there should be a lot more car behind its noise now haha.

You should be fine with the tune. I would just wait for the unpdate as is, with just an intake you'll probably just get a "looks good" reply.

Don't get me wrong I know an intake really doesn't change much but i would think going from the more restrictive stock intake I had on my first tune that they would change something with the larger pipe lol. I want my stated 5-6 hp haha

It will help you meet the torq goal set by trifecta so it really shouldn't need any fine tuning. People were running the ZZP intake before they even had an insert with no updates needed. But, they will look at it and determine what needs done. I'm just saying don't be surprised if you're fine and need no tune updates.

Put the stock intake back on until you get the updated tune.

The ZZP w/o insert requires the MAF tables to be changed for accurate readings and to ensure no CEL. Because the pipe is larger the MAF will underreport actual airflow; because of that the MAFs output table must be adjusted to account for the larger pipe.

Without this adjustment fuel trims will be off, with this setup it's usually enough to throw the P0171 lean code. Drivability and fuel economy can also be impacted.


I had an ECP enabled tune for awhile and switching between my ZZP w/o insert and the SAB made no noticeable changes in drivability and my fuel trims stayed within acceptable limits.

I've since dropped the ECP tune and switching from my ZZP intake to the SAB results in massive drivability problems, my fuel trims were way off, and I'd occasionally throw a code.

sx sonic, to my knowledge I do have an ECP enabled tune. I drove around last night and to work this morning (roughly 150 miles) with no ill effects, fuel economy has not been altered to my knowledge and drivability feels virtually perfect. No check engine lights or pending trouble codes on the ultra gauge either. Thank you for your information.
