May be a dumb question but why would one need a ultra gauge. Do i realty need to know my engine temp or fuel level? Please fill me in on what I'mmissing

I see absolutely no reason why anyone would ever need to know their fuel level. That's just me though.

I find it very handy. Its more then just fuel level . If the computer sees it so can I. I look at engine temp intake temp throttle position cat temp fuel levels in gals and instant mpg. It can also be used for a code reader . This way I know exactly what my Car is doing at all times

I bought a tune. I have a turbo.
My boost went to 24-26 lbs!
I was shocked. ...much more than that and I don't know.
Also have installed power guzzling stuff like lights and an amp.
It's nice to know charging amps and voltage and stuff.
IE: too much power demand for too long can wear out your alternator.
I take trips. It gives you real time mpg and gallons per hour, however you want it.
Admit it. You really just wanted to hear a commercial for ultragauge, huh?

Mine has been very handy letting me monitor the performance of various mods, and also to help me figure out how to better drive the car by showing me what it is doing on an instant basis.
However, I'm sad to say it has become more useless over time; its torque display maxes out at 199, its MPG guages became inaccurate, all it is really doing for me now is show engine temp and help me check and clear CELs.
When it was working, though, the Short Trip mpg gauge was the best part of the UG, it automatically clears itself each time you start the car, and displays in real time your running MPG for the trip. That, combined with instant mpg, really helps you train yourself as to how to get the most mileage out of your ride, something I'd think any driver could benefit from.
The Sonic has an average lifetime mpg display, and you COULD use it to do this same thing by manually clearing it each time you get behind the wheel, but that would be a pain, and you'd lose the lifetime summary. Plus, it is sadly inaccurate, and there is no instant mpg to complement it.

If you're going to stay stock and just drive your car on the street it is probably not of much use.
I use the torque app for Android and I love it.
Once your tuned or if you're doing any performance driving you'll want it to monitor things like: coolant temp, boost, oil temp, exhaust gas temp, etc.
Also if you want to get the most life out of your car you can use it to see when you're up to operating temps before you start pushing it.

It's not really necessary. It's like a outside temperature display, the direction display, RPM for an automatic, or even artist information on the radio, you don't really need it but is is nice to have.
I use the Ultragauge to display instant MPG (helps me improve my MPG), Engine temp (I know when to turn on heat, or switch to performance mode), Boost (just because I like to see it). If I ever get an engine code, I can read and clear it with the Ultragauge (knock on wood).
This mounting point works good.

I'd say the most common gauge I'm using on my Scangauge II is the coolant temp. Like mentioned by other posters, it's good to know when your Sonic is up to full operating temperature. I also use that gauge to determine when I can turn on my heater/defroster. I will toggle thru volt from time to time to make sure my alternator is cranking out ~ 14.2v.
I do wish there was an optional 'gauge pack' for the Sonic like I had on my Ram 1500 pickup that provides all this info on a LED display on the gauge cluster. I'd pay for that option on any car I buy. Especially oil temperature and oil pressure.
Just an idiot light for coolant temperature is not enough for me.
