I don't understand what the purpose of rear slicks on a FWD car is?

The rear skinny slicks? less rolling resistance, it's just like lowering the drag. resulting in less friction. same reason they do the fronts on RWD cars.

Seems like less friction would be better. I.e high psi hard rubber tires.
