Spool time and exhaust

Now now. The laws of physics still apply. The easier the air comes in and the easier it leaves, the faster it spools.

I agree with you....faster spooling is always better, period. In the same breath I would say this little turbo spools pretty quick as is hence my comment. That doesn't mean you can't make it better

No intake and no exhaust are the "ideal" set up for a turbo car. The goal is to eliminate back pressure on the turbo.

Yeah, they usually have velocity stacks on the intake side and straight pipes out the car on the exhaust side...

Also you can see the "exhaust" or lack there of behind the front tire. it's just enough of an exhaust system to get the exhaust away from the engine bay.

I've seen setups like that, my point was the majority of record holding turbos cars have a couple/few feet of exhaust and some piping &/or filter on the intake side.

Not that the above car isn't insanely fast just an observation I've noticed.on builds by the guys that leave no horsepower left on the table.

Perhaps I looked at that post in the wrong context when I responded (I was pretty lit) but I was visualizing a no pipeing to or from the turbo

This is what I'm seeing too, I was wondering how much of an issue spool time is, even on my 100% stock engine I see boost starting to build at just over 1000 rpm.

Instant spool time -> race car. Ok, I don't actually get the 'race car' reference yet being pretty new to the forum, but I'm going to pretend until I figure it out.

Stew its just a saying we use here, I suppose its kinda a justification for doing anything to our cars or its used as a pun.

Eg. I've got a 4ft tall wing- because racecar.
"My cars low and slow" because racecar. Minnie turbo -> racecar.

The turbo is peanut sized spool time is the last thing I worry about in this car lol

this car has a lot of lag stock. thats really the only complaint i have with the car engine wise
