A Supercharger is mechanically driven off of the crank through the accessory pulley system to spin one of a few different styles of compressors.

A Turbocharger is spun using exhaust gas off the exhaust manifold to spin the compressor.

Not joking. I was never around turbos to learn anything about them. Just started trying to learn after getting my Sonic.

Main difference is that a turbo is powered by exhaust gases while superchargers are mechanically driven usually by a belt connected to the crankshaft.

Yep, Yep....I am learning this all out myself. Like I said at first I wanted Twin Turbos but after learning more I realized that I want a SC because of what I want performace wise.

it depends on the application. But a big V8 with supercharger whine is about as close to aural sex one can get.
