That must have taken a lot of speed to bend that lower control arm to make contact with the wheel like that. Smash it back inline with a sledge and you can probably get it driving again.

You gotta remember the newer cars are designed to bend to absorb force.

You mean it's not because of the economy stamped steel they used to make the lower control are with?! It's the crumple zones that are designed to crumple and not a primary load bearing suspension part will not be built to crumple, Bro. And you might want to remeber 5th grade English as well. I did not have English in 5th they gave up after 4th...... if you think about it , if your in a accident you no longer worried about drivability. So it needs to be strong enough to work but be able to bend with a impact. The difference I'm forces between impact and driving are large enough to so something like that

From what I've seen including my last Sonic new cars do not crumple or crush near as much as older ones especially the passenger compartment.

If you compare crash tests on a Sonic to even a 10 year old vehicle including larger ones and even SUVs there is no comparison, at all.

The engineers do not care about lateral forces that impact the engine bay and not the drivers compartment. Keep trying.
