If you need to upgrade your brake to stop (other then a pad upgrade) your pulling too much.
Semis are a different story. If referring to pick ups, with no trailer brakes, you should be able to come to a rolling stop in a reasonable amount of time.
I have to disagree here... I don't know what kind of weekend hobbies people have where you live, but here in socal a lot of people go riding dirt bikes, ATV's, buggies, etc. and most have big toy haulers to carry their machines.
Ours is 29' (tow behind) if I remember correct, and they get bigger. Those things fully loaded with machines, fuel, water, etc. get very heavy. Our 29' fully loaded weighs about 18,000lbs. truck and trailer combined. I don't care what truck you drive you will feel that weight when trying to slow that thing down.
We do have a bit of a handicap though, since Ford used the pickup truck brakes on the Excursions, so stopping power is weak already.
