I'm ok w no turbo 1. Have all the stuff for the 1.8(intake exhaust tune etc)
2. After the warranty is up my local shop is gonna sponsor and build a turbo setup

Sorry about your Sonic, glad to see you are okay tho. I hope the Insurance company gives you the same car. From past experience, once a car's air bags have been deployed, it's automatic total. Might be different in another state, just from my incident ...

Hope everything works out well. An accident is how I got my Sonic. Was sandwiched between 2 F-150's while I was in a Rio5. The truck behind me had a 5th wheel and didn't stop. Momentum pushed me into the high rise ford in front of me puncturing my front end hitting the alternator with his hitch. That was in late Feb. got my deductable back in Dec. Accident sucked, but ended up with a way better car.

The only good use for a Rio5...

That's why I think people who use their trucks for towing need upgraded brakes. My dad relies on his trailer brakes to stop us when towing.

That only works when the truck driver uses his brakes. The guy who hit my buddy didn't touch his. My buddy was in hospital for 9 months.

If you need to upgrade your brake to stop ( other then a pad upgrade) your pulling to much.


Semis are a different story. I referring to pick ups. With no trailer brakes you should be able to come to a rolling stop in a reasonable amount of time

I have to disagree here... I don't know what kind of weekend hobbies people have where you live, but here in socal a lot of people go riding dirt bikes, ATV's, buggies, etc. and most have big toy haulers to carry their machines.

Ours is 29' (tow behind) if I remember correct, and they get bigger. Those things fully loaded with machines, fuel, water, etc. get very heavy. Our 29' fully loaded weighs about 18,000lbs. truck and trailer combined. I don't care what truck you drive you will feel that weight when trying to slow that thing down.

We do have a bit of a handicap though, since Ford used the pickup truck brakes on the Excursions, so stopping power is weak already.

I never said you wouldn't notice it but you should be able to do a emergency stop and stop in a reasonable amount of time.


And what do you mean using pickup brakes makes it weak ? Unless they used like f150 brakes

Probably, we've done a few emergency stops and it's scary. That thing doesn't want to stop.

In the grande skeem of things 18k combined is not that much our 43 foot horse trailer and truck is 27k combined and that's not fully loaded.



Also I'm still interested about the brakes on your rig?

Whatever the OEM equipment is on a 2002 Ford Excursion, that's what's on it. I don't feel like looking it up. lol Maybe his truck is the exception.
