I did not know the auto shifted at the 60' mark.
Also I've never ran the sonic at the track but have run many fwd rwdand awdcars at the track .... 2.3 is not very good on street tires.

I can agree on this.

It's not completely atrocious but it's nowhere near very good especially if you have non OEM tires.

It may be after but I am basing my assumption on run #2. I hooked up well all day with no spin and only hopped on run #3. Runs #2 and #4 both rev limited first. On run #2 when it hit the limiter it backfired and I was thrown forward because I let off the gas. The backfire was loud and I wasn't sure what was going on so I went safe and pulled off the pedal. When this occurred on run #4 it didn't backfire and I just popped the shifter forward.

My launch technique, although consistent, was as little spin or hop as possible. Also I never nls. Tmo threw down a great 60' hopping all the way to it wearing my shoes. I was a little baffled, but next time I go I will run more aggressively, and nls.

There is only 1 rule: The best time is the fastest time. Regardless of how you got it as long as it was with a Sonic.

Hey guys i do not have a 1/4 mile track only a 8th.
I raced a civic dx hatch with a k20 swap in it and full intake abd exhaust. My number was 188. I was right with him until 3rd. This was done with everything in car system and all and a full tank of gas and a big gulp in the cup holder. EDIT: elevation of 700ft Brainerd optimist drag strip

Dang! That's a good 60' and it looks like you would have seen a high 14 on a qtr mile with a 9.8 1/8th time.

Thx man....reaction time is a little off but that was my third pass ever. I guess the e85 is a bbbiigg difference...i want to port my intake and put the e85 and downpipe on and see what i get
...also ran better than 2.3 on 60ft i spooled 6psi on take off...any more and i get wheelhop or spin

Guess I need to get to the track. Little 1.8 may be able to win something. Used to pull 2.0 60' in my S/C Z24 with ****ty RS-A tires. Wonder if I can do the same in my slow ass 1.8??

Yes please. I'd like to see more 1.8 representation.
Also, the 1.8 should be able to produce just as good if not better 60' times.
I imagine you don't have to shift withe the 5spd til 61'.

Not sure, with its lack of acceleration I might not hit 2nd gear until the 80' mark...

I do need to get a run in. I suspect its a patheticly slow 17 second pass at maybe 82-85 MPH. On a very good day. Im being optimistic here.

Maybe two tracks open right now. One is a crappy track where you can get a lot of runs, the other very nice, but I never got many runs in.

I will probably go to the ****ty one when I can find a few people to go with me on a test and tune day.

Thanks man, I was super surprised too.

My first run was 16.18 @ 84.80! I was super excited, and wanted to try for a 15.99 so I pulled the air filter out of the factory box, and removed the spare and jack.

2nd run was a 16.4 @ 85.26. Major wheel spin

Parked it, dropped 10 psi from the front tires and popped the hood for about 20 min to let it cool off a little.

3rd run 15.7849 @ 86.35! it hooked like a dream

I have been doing a little trial and error on the streets with manual mode, and after a little reading about DIY Porting Your Intake Manifold!!! Wow

before in manual mode, I had to shift right @ 5,000 in order for it to not fall flat on its face... NO MORE!!! I can hit the button @ 5,800 and it will hit right @ 6,000 and Shift:banana:

I am going to try it out this weekend @ the track (4/20/2013) hoping with the manifold ported, CAI, ABS fuse pulled, and back seat removed I can hit in the 15.5999 range... HOPING

Another factor may also be that it is a 2012, which I believe I read that the 1.4T with the auto tranny came with 3.65 gears. I think I remember seeing that....

The 2013's are geared a hair lower around 3.49 or so, I THINK

Will do some research on this
