It was happening on any kind of turn but especially more of a "bear left" but would still do it on a turn.

Insanika, I checked out the video. I definitely heard the noise, but it wasn't clear enough for me to make a guess as to the cause. It did seem more like a rub noise though.

That looks really clean for an old FX. Nice find.

I bought a FX16 a little over ten years ago as a second car to carry stuff around in(primary car was an MR2). Passed it sitting in a gas station parking lot with a for sale sign. The toyota red paint was typically faded but I think it had about 100k on it and was in nice condition. The 16v 4age is just a gem of an engine.

Unfortunately as my second car it mostly sat until a friend begged me to sell it to an acquaintance who "really needed a car and was down on his luck". Sold it to him for cheap since he was "down on his luck"....Found out the bastard flipped it in less than a month for a profit. Live and learn.

I still lust after them and would like to find a clean one myself to throw a 20v into.

to clarify, it's a 94 Corolla 3 door hatch. it's not a hot hatch at all, Keith and I just get a kick from referring to his Spirit as a sport sedan. we're actually taking them to the car meet tomorrow night. haha

As far as I know they did not have a corolla hatch in 94. The redesign came out as the 92 models, and I think the hatch was killed after 1988 in the US.

Looks like an AE82 hatch, the high end model came with a twin cam engine that was great

I recommend a blacktop 20valve and 6-speed (although I wouldn't buy it on ebay) JDM Toyota Corolla 4A GE Levin Black 20V Engine 6 Speed Transmission 4AGE Black | eBay

160hp, 8k rev limit, individual throttle bodies and it bolts right in Probably the best engine ever put in an economy car. The non VVT silvertop is also a cheaper and easier option but has similar attributes
