I can say with a level of certainty that clutch pedals will be phased out. You will have "computer controlled clutches" for "manuals." Less clutch failure due to driver error. The days of the driver acting as the stop gap for the car's limitations are closing. The cars are now accounting for driver failure or shortcomings.

I hate using quotes, but not sure of any other way of saying it. I don't like it, as i have been driving manuals most of my life. But, it is the future save for driver's cars and the random Eco box.

@Eric-it will be done, I just was hoping to get the car to the track before the porting so I can attempt to improve upon my time with the current set up. I still think I should hit mid 14's with turbo back/intake/tune/summer rubbers/no seats or spare.

I would say this is the best upgrade u can do without a tune hands down!

In my opinion this is nothing short of putting a "cam" in our sonics!

It really opens the top end up just by cutting away some plastic factory restricions, a process that if you have the tools is pretty much free!!!:banana:

If you are serious about wanting more performance out of your 1.4T sonic, this is the best place to start! The DIY thread has a perfect step by step instructions on the entire process.

to top it all off i beat a turbo honda civic that wanted to race head to head

Here is a good example of the gain in porting your manifold!
I picked up 4mph on a stock tune!!!

my prior best speed @ the 1/8 mile was 68.89, this run was 69.76.
my prior best speed @ the 1/4 mile was 86.35, this run was 90.40.

3rd and 4th gear pull much harder and higher.

How did you get away with grinding the IM down on the stock tune? I thought you had to have ECP enabled on a tune from BNRacing. Is that what the ** are for?

Porting the IM is okay with the stock tune.

The ppl that had issues were the ones that ported the IM with the early Trifecta tune, before it ECP came standard on all their tunes.

This is correct. I ran about 3000mi with a ported I'M and turbo on the stock tune without issues, or even a noticable change in fuel economy. Although there eas a noticable difference in topend after 5500rpm

The ** is to highlight that I don't have a tune yet (I am trying like crazy to get the money together!!)

You DO NOT need a tune to port the manifold. The only issues I have read about were people who have CAI with a larger ID" than stock, and ported the manifold that were getting CEL.

I ported the manifold, dropped 90 pounds (seats) and the numbers speak for themselves. I can't afford to dyno before and after, but I made 7 passes saturday and my lowest mph at the trap was 88.95 (also my slowest ET of the day 15.70 due to wheel spin). My best mph before porting the manifold was 86.35.

My best run vs my prior best run was 4.05 mph higher at the trap (90.40 vs 86.35)
