hum on right side when idle with a/c on

Just purchased the turbo manual hatch sonic and have a few questions;

the other day when sitting in neutral in traffic, it was like 95 out so the a/c was on pretty high. Anyways every 20-30 seconds or so I would hear a hum of something kicking on or ramping up on the right side; is this normal?

I would assume it is the ac pump engaging or disengaging. You should see a slight decrease in rpm when it is engaged

Thats most likely exactly what it is; so its normal?

Ya, I can't really hear mine from the engine compartment due to my exhaust. But on idle I can tell from the exhaust when it kicks on an off

AC systems dont draw as much power as they used to in the 70s/80s. I do feel a little more sluggish with it on , but havent noticed a change in MPG. If I feel like I even MAY be getting a little warm that AC is cranked! Love that new car chill!!!
