Budget tune?

I am on the fence about getting a budget tune. I know people say its more fun. but is it really worth 350$? (200 for tune and 150 for cable) any feed back on power changes, drivability changes and most importantly reliability. any body have a good video of acceleration with a tune?

The tune is the most single important mod available. More power, fuel economy stays the same, no check engine lights ect. You will feel the car pull much better and is way more fun to drive.

No, the tune is not worth it. You don't need more power, you don't need more smoothly delivered power. Worst of all, you don't need to open up the can of worms that is the ability to get something from mods other than just throwing money at your car and having it make some noises but deliver nothing.

If you -want- more power, then it is pointless to even try to do anything else other than get a tune. But do you really want more power? Stock Sonic works just fine, and if you can keep your hands off it, you can have a nice drive for years to come without your eye twitching every time another new mod comes out you can throw money at.

Ask yourself, how often do you actually put the hammer down? If you aren't going WOT on a stock tune, then you will never ever use the power available from the tune, which is essentially like putting the "pedal to the metal" of a stock tune at about the 3/4ths floored level, and giving you the ability to go to 130% of what you can get now by flooring it.

Or, you can take the red pill and see what the Sonic can really do. But you'll never be satisfied, there's always a little more you can do.

Anyone that has the tune for the sonic will tell you to get it.. If youre after power and a way more fun car, then get it. Why even ask the question? Half the threads on this forum is about the tune. Honestly, once you download the tune, its like being in a different car. Sounds too good to be true, but its true. Along with the tune adding an awesome amount of power on its own, any modifications you do to your car (power wise) will make no difference without a tune. Infact, it can hurt your car.

This is exactly my point though, get the tune only if you're after more power, and if more power would make the car more fun for you.

If you're after fuel economy, well, while it won't technically hurt, it won't help either. And it will hurt if you end up pushing harder because of the insane laughter that comes bubbling up from you every time you do... those laughs come at a price.

I say anyone who has to ask, at this point, should strongly consider NOT getting the tune. Yes, it's tons more power, yes it lets your other mods actually do something other than make some funny noises, but surely the three hundred other threads on here saying that should be sufficient to let you know that much.

If you're asking if it will make your colors brighter and your whites whiter, no it won't. If you're asking if it will make beer simultaneously less filling and more tasty, no it won't. If you're asking if it will make your car go three hundred miles per gallon and leap the snake river canyon while attracting tall leggy girls in short cuttoffs, nope, not gonna do that either. It's just gonna turn your 1.4T engine into the equivalent of a 2.0T engine, while letting you continue to get the gas mileage of a 1.4T engine if you can keep your foot out of it.

If that's not worth $200 to you, then it isn't. No shame in that, in fact more power to you (so to speak. Less power to you, in point of fact, but you know what I mean) if you're happy driving around in a stock Sonic. It's a great car as is.
