Your 60' exposes your weakness. The launch.

Don't let rdss scare you. Doing a couple brake stands won't kill your trans. It's not great for it, but it won't fry it instantly.

Cars with 300+ horsepower can do some damage, but we don't have to worry about that.

It's definitely the launch. One you get a few good launches you'll consistently hit ~2.3 at 60' and about 10.1 in the 1/8 mile. Your 1/4 mile trap time will vary more depending on track and environmental conditions but will likely be 15.5 - 15.75 with little headwind.

The brake stand technique was described, but you don't have to pay attention to rpm. I go off feel. To practice, and keep from unnecessarily heating/straining your transmission, don't worry about the lights on the tree too much. When you see the first light change, press the gas until you feel the brakes begin to lose their grip; this is the rpm point at which you should launch. Release the brake and then ease into the gas pedal to limit wheel spin.

Don't forget to turn off your TCS, hold that button down for at least 5 seconds and it should turn off the stability control "I think that's what its called". Wow you gained almost 20mph from the 1/8 to the end of the 1/4mile.

When I was in my teens back than, we used to put it in neutral and rev it than put it in drive calling it a "neutral drop". I have no idea if that is even safe to do so don't listen to me. Lol I've been driving my auto Sonic for just over 1 year and prior to that it was always manual.

Hey guys, just ran the sonic last night.

60ft: 2.090
1/8ET: 9.199
1/8MPH: 78.26

1/4ET: 14.3700
1/4MPH: 97.19

Best track condition was 81 degrees, 30% humidity, head wind at 15-20 mph.
Altitude density was 7,000 down to 6,500 around midnight.

Front Tires were @ 36 psi (BFG Drag Radials)
rear tires were @ 56 psi (Spares)
ABS fuse in, with TCS and Stability off
Brake boost @ 2,500 rpm and 8psi (the max the factory stall will allow)
Did the run in drive.

Here is a list of my mods since my 14.86

1.CXRacing 22"x8"x3.5" core intercooler (2.5" inlet/outlet)
2.custom hard tubes 2"od. I replaced everything minus the cold side sensor housing which is 1.5" ID. All 2" od pieces from silicone intakes.com
3. I had a boost leak I fixed, from my first hard tube attempt.
4. I ran my intake out my RH high beam hole, and put a six inch velocity stack.
5. BFG drag radials.
6. Spares for rear wheels
7. Removed even more interior for another 50 lbs off

Special Note: my 14.86 pass was done with ABS fuse pulled, and 23" street tires,and to top it off I found a boost leak.

The auto runs much stronger with ABS in and tcs/stability off. The tires were way too short(I was running out of gear, and it didn't stay in the power band. The boost leak and higher flow intercooler made the most difference. My max boost on my custom trifecta tune with E85 was 16 slowly falling off to about 12. Now with the leak fixed and higher flow intercooler, I hit 21 everytime, and only fall to 17.

I am trying to upload the pic of my slip, and if I can figure it out I will post some pics.

What exactly is the high beam hole? The high beam is part of the entire headlight assembly. I find it hard to imagine you completely redesigned the entire headlight assembly....... Or did you?

Or he just cut a hole through the high beam headlight and put the tube straight through it. I would have went with Stratton's idea and dropped it down to a cheap piece of plastic in the bumper if he did destroy the head light for this.

It's more complex than that. It would require some creative sealing, as the turn signal and low beam share the same containment and would easily be vulnerable to moisture issues.

I'm not saying it's impossible. But looking at my extra RH headlight assy, I can say that the project is pretty extensive, and am surprised that someone would do it and not share more details on how it was done.

But it has become kind of a trend in this thread, I guess people are worried they will be helping their competition.

I guess if telling everyone I ran my intake through the RH high beam hole, and bolted on a 6" velocity stack still makes it a secret, then here is a photo
