I'd like to see some Eco modding done, with testing. There seems to be less of this here on the forum, and more power modding/looks modding, but one of the big attractions of the Sonic seems to be its high MPG.
Areas of interest for this would be:
retracting vent covers for the front grill, similar to those on some Cruze models
sealing the bottom
rear end diffuser
changing spoiler to closer fit the Kambach shape
Lightweight, low drag tires
Lightweight, low drag wheels
Rim covers (even the infamous pizza pan mod)
Something else I've been very interested in is a switchable Hot air/Cold air intake, allowing the driver to switch between cold air (maybe thru the passenger side fog lamp hole? and hot air (perhaps dragging air from drivers side fog lamp past the exhaust manifold and into the same intake, or maybe just taking engine compartment air in)
Since you're talking about the 1.4T, you should be highlighting the genius of the design, which gives you the eco benefits of a tiny displacement with the full torque-y power that the turbo allows when you floor it. So I'd be looking at mods that are either switchable, or that benefit both eco and power.
So what else is like that? Hmm, weight loss. How about lighter seats, or perhaps just a mod that makes removing the passenger seats easier?
Then, leaving my eco/power dream aside for the moment, I'd also really like to see someone tear apart the M32 transmission and figure out how to beef that up. It really seems to be the ideal ratio, out of all the Cruze/Sonic trannies out there, but it's been having a lot of problems even on unmodded cars, and if you're going to try pushing up to the 300hp+ range I'm pretty sure we need to pioneer some work beefing it up. Chevy doesn't even give their techs the tools required to tear it apart, the least problem with the thing, their only official solution is remove and replace the whole thing.
